Google Data Accuracy / SEO Dojo Radio / Niche Linkbuilding

In my latest post for Search News Central I dig in to the data Google provides us with via Webmaster Tools and the AdWords Keyword Tool. I find some major discrepancies between data sets, especially where search volume is concerned:

Search News Central: Does Google Tools Data Really Add up?

Most of us have by now realised that the data Google gives us in its various webmaster and AdWords tools is, at most horrendously inaccurate. But just how inaccurate is it? I decided to gather some web analytics data on one of my client sites and compare it to relevant data from Google Webmaster Tools (GWT) and the AdWords Keyword Tool (GAWKT), and see exactly where the pain points are.

Last week I was once again a guest on the SEO Dojo Search Geeks Speak podcast where I and the very knowledgable Steve Gerencser chatted with regular presenters David Harry and Terry Van Horne about Ecommerce SEO, specifically linkbuilding. You can listen to the podcast here or download it via iTunes.

And lastly I and Gianluca Fiorelli, a widely respected Italian SEO working in Spain, were interviewed by Kevin Wiles to give our thoughts on linkbuilding for specialised niche industries:

Kevin Wiles: Link Building in Niche Industries

It can be very challenging to find the right ‘hook’ for niche & technical industries. There’s not much interesting stuff you can say about, say, industrial-scale generators. But your competitors have the same problem, so you can easily stand out with just a little bit of creative thinking. Sometimes a well-made corporate video with high production values can do the trick – it’s not that exciting, but it can give you the online edge you need.
